I think more new music on blip would be great but not if its littered with 30 sec samples. Me thinks is blip in Beta? I haven't tried ping.fm but I think micro blogs in multiple outlets same content is applicable to 1% of posts so the blip "+ " selective tweets is ideal for me!

I think it's a shame that Blip's not taking what it's users outside of the US use the site for. It's particularly a problem if users start to abandon Blip (as purplesime and others have) because of it.

Here's what I wrote on the Blip.Fm feedback forum

As a user / lover of Blip I feel let down by the integration with Imeem.

Before those deals were struck, Blipping new tracks was a much simpler experience. Now I’m having to watch out for and circumvent the Imeem tracks in the list.

This gets frustrating when blipping new tracks, but is even more frustrating when listening to everyone else’s tracks.

Blip, for me, isn’t about putting on the music I want to listen to (I could use iTune or Last.fm or Spotify for that) it’s about discovering new music suggested by like-minded people. For that, I’d be prepared to pay, look at and click on adverts or have the occasional short interruption. What I’m not prepared to do is listen to 30 secs worth of a track, especially if I know that the intended purpose from the person putting it on is for others to hear the whole thing.

For now, I’m not going to abandon Blip as I’ve invested a lot of time and effort into building up a good list of people who have similar musical taste, but I am unhappy about the Imeem integration and would like to see some concessions made toward users outside of the US. Whether that’s flagging of Imeem tracks in the blip list or, preferably, Imeem abandoned.

Please Blip team - make the right (not rights) choice and stay true to your original vision for the site.

PaulFrankRizzo, I'm glad you're finding more tracks available; so am I. At first, I was delighted. However, the social structure of Blip.fm is breaking down.

Non-U.S. users are experiencing far FEWER tracks available (although 30-second clips are plentiful). In the absence of clear information from Blip.fm leadership, coupled with ruptures in relationships between U.S. and non-U.S. "blippers," this website is becoming a troubling place to spend time.

Despite the fact that I'm advantaged by having more tracks, I prefer the relationships I had with non-U.S. users; it was THEY who turned me on to the most new music...and isn't that what a "music discovery" site is all about? With the narrowing of the "bliposphere" to U.S. users, I fear that the diversity will be lost, and the "discovery" greatly reduced.

I'm also extremely dismayed at the uncertainty that has been created by Blip.fm leadership's silence. People are second-guessing, posturing, and demonstrating all kinds of "angst" around the ambiguities, placations, platitudes, and empty words coming from Blip.fm "corporate." It's a real psychodrama...and not a very entertaining one.

I would prefer that Blip.fm come straight out and tell us what IS and what IS NOT possible, given their current business model. What exactly are the services being offered on Blip.fm? And to whom? What can non-U.S. users expect to see in the near- and mid-term future?

Vagaries about "solutions" that, frankly, seem "pie in the sky," given what I know about the situation at Last.fm for non-U.S. users, are really disingenuous on the part of Blip.fm leadership, and decrease my confidence in the future of Blip.fm.

The lack of transparency on Blip.fm's part is troubling, to say the least.
