The Palladium in Hollywood. Security almost strip searches you and the sound is boomy and cavernous. Saw the Meat Puppets there and the idiot sound guy had the levels set for a stadium. the sound just bounced around until it was mush. The only good thing about the Palladium is I saw Nirvana there, opening for Sonic Youth before Nevermind came out.

I saw Oingo Boingo and The Damned there back in the 80s and I thought the sound was great! Those were excellent shows. Loved the ballroom floor because I could make my way to the front with just general admission tix, and the open bar was cool too! Lack of security was more of a problem back then because that Hollywood neighborhood was a bit skeevy - cars were broken into, someone was mugged, and there were people openly selling hard drugs in the parking lot. Haven't been there for years though I can't imagine the neighborhood has improved.
