Hello All. I'm trying to blip only (at least what I consider to be) alternative Japanese music, so I thought I would join this forum. Nice to meet you all.

Hey @spydergryl My new obsession is Florence and the Machines. Blip "Drumming", "Cosmic Love", or "Swimming" if you are into Imogen Heap/Frou Frou. (: Hi Pinkpolkadots and FUZZYFM

Hi @spydrgyrl - Are there any groups that you currently like? Maybe that would help us suggest a few more for exploration? Welcome to the "alternative" group!

@spydrgyrl I have a few you might like. If you like guitar-based rock you could try Eels, Fratellis, and Decemberists (thanks to @Aluciel for turning me on to these), or King Missile (thanks to @soprano) I just re-blipped their gem, "Detachable Penis" 8-D. I'm particularly fond of Metric, Broken Social Scene, Soft Skeleton, and anything else with which Emily Haines is associated. If you like it more experimental you might try Theivery Corporation or Animal Collective. Others I really like that are not guitar based are Kokusyoku Sumire (thanks to @katarinax), Miss Li, Lonely Drifter Karen, Gogol Bordello, Leerone, Katy vs. Evil (Katy Gunn), Värttinä, A Hawk and a Hacksaw, MIA, Pink Martini, The Ditty Bops, and more. When I encounter a band I like I put it in my playlist because my memory is so bad these days, so you can check it out for more names. But mostly I just listen to Regina Spektor, because her songs are so much better and more evocative and enigmatic than anything else that when I'm listening to something else I'm thinking about her songs.

Can anyone recommend any new or favourite Alternative Bands?
