It's all about the Music

I guess I've found a few songs worth sharing lately. Some have been in my iTunes/CD Library for years, and others I have just recently heard.

Props are awesome. They are usually meant to say "I like that song." But props can also mean "How's it going." (Like poking on Facebook.) Some people give props to their friends online because they know each other. It's a mature way of supporting a friend. Giving props to a friend who's song you might not like, but you know they like is a way of saying, "Hey, I see you're playing that song you like, I am glad you are happy with the music." Obviously, friends share Music Taste. It is a common bond that unites individuals. But I am sure you don't share the EXACT same Music Taste as every one of your closest friends. It is not possible, nor is it totally desired. You see, friends (and even online friends) can SHARE MUSIC that they think their friend MIGHT like or be interested in. Most of us need that Song Recommendation from a known person (in this case, an online friend), because we would never find out about that particular music without it.

The music I am currently "spinning" on my BlipFM Page is meant to be Listened to. Each and every Blip I play should be listened to. Then, you either Prop it, Add it to Your Library, or Skip to the Next Track. But at the end of the day, you were exposed to KNOWN GOOD MUSIC. Recommended by me, your online friend. And that means something in this world. More-so then a push from a Record Company. And more-so then me just Blipping Pop Music that anyone is forced to hear as they leave their house and go into public each day.

Whether a person likes Rock, Rap, Country, or whatever---I feel all of these people can relate to Electronica because most of it is instrumental. No matter what age or background someone comes from, it is instrumental music with beats and tempo. However, I can see that some people only like to stick to their own Musical Genre of Choice. And that is fine with me. It's just that I think Electronica as a Music Genre has the ability to reach more people then other music genres because of the nature of the Musical Sounds and the way it is played. Rock, Rap, Country, and Pop are Strict Musical Genres that are played a Certain Way. But Electronica is always evolving. It does have qualities that make it known as Electronica, Dance, House, Electro, Euro, etc, but for the most part, it is a Free-Form Musical Genre similar to the way Jazz was 50 years ago. The only difference is the beats are made digitally.

In closing, I feel that Blipping current Pop Music like Lady Gaga, Kesha, Justin Bieber, and even Madonna does NOTHING for the listeners! Anyone, in any part of the world, can hear that Record Label Force-Fed Consumerist Crap at any given hour of any given day. Blip.FM is an internet website. That makes it kind of "underground." And anyone that would be interested in something "Cutting Edge" and "Underground" would be interested in hearing New, Unknown, Non-Mainstream Music. And that is what I try to give my listeners in my BlipStream. You are all free to Blip whatever you want. You can even Blip Phone Pranks, Comedy Routines, and voice interviews. There's tons of audio content on the web, and BlipFM does a pretty good job at finding whatever it is you want to Blip. I'm just saying that I can't sleep well at night if all I did was give you the Pop Crap anyone can hear on any Radio for free. Wouldn't you rather come away from your time spent on BlipFM with some New Songs to add to your list of Musical Favorites? If you like even one out of ten of my songs, then I have succeeded in bringing you New Music (music you might not have ever heard). But I am sure you will like all of them ;)

I agree with some of the points that you made, but I have to say that I also agree with @creativeness in so far as running my page on feeling, and emotion. I Blip a song or sets that coincide with where my head and heart lead me. This might start out at Chopin, and travel through The Damned, and Carmen Miranda. I think that the important thing about Blip is variety. Hey, it's not my thing, but if someone wants to Blip Justin Bieber all day and their friends dig it, so be it. The beauty of this thing is that we can share all our eclectic tastes with one another. I love when people like what I play, and I'm grateful for a forum where I can check out international artists from around the world. The more songs, sounds, and clips the better.

You make a good point. People can get mainstream songs elsewhere. I don't mind mainstream. I like to run my station on feeling and emotion. I think there may be a bit of magic in the connection people get when they hear a song that was playing during a moment in there lives and I can give that moment back to some extent by replaying the song. This method seems to work better for me using mainstream because it has been heard by more people.

But you've inspired me a bit. I always get requests from up and coming music artists to promo their new stuff. Lately, I have been doing a little bit of that, but after reading your post, I may be inclined to dig a little deeper into these new sources on sound. Thanks Paul.
